Definition: 18650 Lithium ion battery PACK consists of battery pack, bus, soft connection, protective board, outer packaging, output (including connectors), barley paper, plastic support and other auxiliary materials.


Characteristics of 18650 Lithium ion battery PACK


(1) 18650 lithium ion Battery PACK requires a high degree of consistency (capacity, internal resistance, voltage, discharge curve, life).

(2). The cycle life of the 18650 lithium ion battery pack. 18650 lithium ion PACK is lower than that of the single cell.

(3). Use under limited conditions (including charging, discharging current, charging mode, temperature, etc.).

(4) The voltage and capacity of 18650 lithium ion battery pack after PACK formation have been greatly improved, so it must be protected, and charge equalization, temperature, voltage and overcurrent monitoring should be carried out.


The 18650 lithium ion battery pack must meet the design voltage and capacity requirements.


18650 lithium ion PACK method


(1) serial and parallel components: the 18650 lithium ion battery pack is made of single cell and connected in series. For example, 3.6V/10Ah battery is composed of a single N18650/2Ah through 5 parallel. Parallel to Series: Parallel battery cycle life will be affected by the difference of internal resistance and uneven heat dissipation. However, the automatic withdrawal of single battery failures does not affect the use of parallel connection except the capacity reduction, and the parallel connection process is more stringent. When a unit battery in parallel is short-circuited, the current of parallel circuit is very large, which is usually avoided by fuse protection technology. Series and Parallel First: Series first according to the capacity of the whole battery group, such as 1/3 of the capacity of the whole group, and finally parallel, which reduces the failure probability of large capacity battery group.


(2) 18650 Lithium ion Battery Cell requirements: according to their own design requirements, select the corresponding battery cell, parallel and series batteries require the same type, type, capacity, internal resistance, voltage value difference is not more than 2%. Generally, the capacity loss of batteries is 2%-5% after they are combined in series and in parallel. The more the number of batteries is, the more the capacity loss is. Whether it is flexible packaged battery or cylindrical battery, it needs multi-series combination. If the consistency is poor, the battery capacity will be affected. The lowest battery capacity in a group determines the capacity of the whole battery. High current discharge performance is required. The starting current of the motor is 3 times the normal working current, and the large current discharge can improve the dynamic performance of the motor. The battery must be well dissipating. Because of the large number of batteries, the temperature rise inside the battery box is not easy to disperse, resulting in uneven temperature among batteries, different discharge characteristics, and long-term deterioration of battery performance. The production technology level is high. The battery must withstand the impact of bumpy road. The production process, especially the spot welding process, has high requirements. After welding, test shall be carried out to avoid false welding and soldering.


(3) 18650 lithium ion PACK process: 18650 lithium ion Battery PACK is realized by two ways. One is laser welding or ultrasonic welding or pulse welding. This is a common welding method. Its advantage is good reliability, but it is not easy to replace. Second, contact through elastic metal sheets, the advantage is that there is no need for welding, battery replacement is easy, and the disadvantage is that it may lead to poor contact.
