Advantages of Lithium Ion Batteries


Guide: Compared with other types of batteries, lithium-ion batteries have the following remarkable advantages.

(2) High energy density. The theoretical energy density of cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries can reach more than 200 W.h/kg. In practical applications, the energy density is usually lower than this value due to irreversible capacity loss, but it can also reach 140 W.h/kg, which is still three times as high as that of nickel-cadmium batteries and 1.5 times as high as that of nickel-hydrogen batteries.


(3) Long cycle life. At present, the cycle number of lithium-ion batteries can reach more than 1000 times under deep discharge condition, and thousands times under low discharge depth condition. Its performance is far superior to that of other batteries of the same kind.


(4) Small self-discharge. The monthly self-discharge rate of lithium-ion batteries is only 5%-9% of the total capacitance, which greatly alleviates the power loss caused by self-discharge when the traditional secondary batteries are placed.


(5) No memory effect.


High environmental protection. Compared with traditional lead-acid batteries, nickel-cadmium batteries and even nickel-hydrogen batteries, lithium-ion batteries do not contain harmful elements such as mercury, lead and cadmium, and are truly green batteries. With the rapid development of mobile electronic devices and the increasing demand for energy, the demand for lithium-ion batteries is increasing. The high capacity, moderate voltage, wide source, long cycle life, low cost, good performance and no pollution to the environment of lithium ion batteries determine that lithium ion batteries can not only be used in mobile communication tools, but also become the power supply of electric vehicles which are developing rapidly.
