22.2v 16Ah 18650 Li ion Battery Pack Analysis

Introduction: Lead-acid batteries are used as mobile standby power supply in traditional field ground penetrating radar (GPR) testers. Due to their low energy density, low mass, low discharge efficiency and non-environmental protection, lead-acid batteries can no longer meet the needs of standby power supply for modern portable industrial instruments and equipment. Lithium batteries have become the preferred alternative to lead-acid batteries in many fields of industrial instruments and equipment due to their unique advantages such as high energy ratio, light weight, small size, high cycle life, high safety and high voltage consistency.


I. Requirements for backup power supply of ground penetrating radar tester:


Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) tester has the requirements of high working voltage, long time and special ambient temperature. In the field of lithium battery batteries, domestic first-line brands of Bike long-life lithium batteries are adopted, and 6 series of 8 parallel combinations are used to meet customer's relevant parameters. In the protection of lithium battery protection circuit, six series of precision hardware protection circuit and six series charging balance circuit are adopted to achieve the maximum overcurrent 25A, continuous discharge current 8A and charging balance current 300mA of finished lithium battery. In the relevant working environment, the use of high-grade white waterproof box shell to achieve customer waterproof environment requirements. The specific parameters of the combined finished batteries are as follows:


1. Design requirements of lithium battery pack model: 18650-6S8P/16Ah/22.2V.

2. Circuit design requirements:

1). Single overcharge protection voltage: 4.35 & plusmn; 0.25V

2). Single overcharge recovery voltage: 4.15 & plusmn; 0.50V

3). Single section overdischarge protection voltage: 2.70 & plusmn; 0.08V

4). Single section over-discharge recovery voltage: 3.00 & plusmn; 0.10V

5). Overcurrent Protection Value of Combination Batteries (10ms): 30-35A

6). Charging Balance Current: 300 & plusmn; 50mA

7). Charging Balance Voltage: 4.20 & plusmn; 25mV

8). Battery overtemperature protection value (recoverable): 70-plusmn; 5 degrees

9). The finished batteries also have short circuit and backcharge protection.

II. Design scheme of backup power supply for ground penetrating radar tester:


1) Protective board (PCM): The main protection circuit is designed for rechargeable lithium batteries. Because of the chemical characteristics of lithium batteries, it is necessary to provide intelligent power calculation, overcharge, overdischarge, short circuit, overcurrent protection functions to avoid the danger of combustion and explosion.


2) Protection IC (Protection IC): The main protection function chip of the design scheme monitors the functions of over-charge, over-discharge, over-current and short circuit on-line. Make the core work in a safe, stable and efficient range.


360直播吧3) Charging Balance Module: Balancing the voltage difference of each core during charging process, enhancing the consistency of the voltage of each core to prolong the service life of the combined battery.


360直播吧4) Temperature switch: mainly for the design of temperature protection function. When the temperature of the battery itself reaches 75 degrees due to other abnormal problems, the temperature switch operates to achieve overtemperature protection, and automatically restores when the temperature drops.


5) 18650 lithium ion core/18650/2000 mAh/3.7V BAK cell (long life core).


6) Field effect transistor (MOSFET): MOSFET plays a switching role in the protection circuit. It will never increase or decrease the voltage at both ends of the load and ensure voltage stability.
